With the advent of Covid-19, many single people and couples who have found their sex lives boring and predictable have been turning more and more to sex toys to bring pleasure and fulfilment to their sexual relationships.
A great deal of men and women use sex toys. It is estimated that over eighty percent of women and over seventy percent of men own at least one sex toy (2022). Not only are sex toys wonderful for pleasure but they also bring about health benefits as well (2022).
According to Stacy Rybchin of My Secret Luxury, “Sex toys help couples to spice things up and have a variety of exciting experiences in the bedroom. If your sexual attitude is playful, then your sexual relationship will be more satisfying” (Mitchell, 2013).
Seventy-five percent of women can not reach orgasm through penetrative sex and about half of sexually active women have faked the big “O” at least once” (Mitchell, 2013). This likelihood of the woman needing to fake orgasm much less the woman not being able to genuinely achieve climax goes totally out the window when vibrators are used. In fact, the almighty wand vibrator is guaranteed to bring any woman to orgasm due to its size, power, and speed of the vibrations.
Masturbation is a normal part of adulthood. This can be whether the person who self-pleasures are a man or woman, eighteen years old or eighty years old. This very act of masturbation is self-empowerment and when approached properly is the basis of a good, healthy attitude towards sex (2022).
For many menopausal and post-menopausal women masturbation with a vibrator relieves a lot of the painful symptoms related to menopause. Such symptoms as vaginal atrophy, vulval/vaginal pain and tightness of the vagina, lack of arousal and low libido (Turner, et al., 2018), are many of the symptoms relieved through masturbation.
Certain medications in both men and women like cancer treatments, antidepressants, antihistamines and blood pressure and heart medicines (Turner, et al., 2018) can also have a detrimental effect on pleasure and performance.
One benefit to masturbation is sleep. If a person is having trouble sleeping, then when he or she masturbates with a toy the odds of them falling asleep faster and having better overall sleep greatly improves. In menopausal women, nighttime sweating decreases through orgasm using internal vibrators (Turner, et al., 2018).
This author has firsthand experience with the masturbatory wonders of self-pleasuring to fall asleep. Let him tell it in his own story in the first person:
One night I could not sleep because
I was sexually aroused after watching
an explicit movie before I went to bed.
I got out of bed, turned the lights on
and strapped on my male vibrator and
it went to work, bringing me to a full-
blown orgasm within minutes. No more
than five minutes after, I was asleep and
slept soundly like a baby for ten hours straight.
There’s nothing quite like taking care of your own business to put a man or woman to sleep when he or she is aroused or agitated in some way right before bed and masturbation with sex toys is something that should be embraced by all people of all genders as a natural, normal part of adulthood.
